I finished painting “Bill the Bastard”. My inspiration was late grandfather. My grand father was in the 3rd Light Horse Brigade. He passed away before I was born and he was buried in a paupers grave. A few years ago my cousin found where he was buried so we put a plague on his plot with the light horse brigade emblem on it. My cousin gave me the book ‘Bill the Bastard’ which showed me the hardships my grandfather would have gone through serving his country and the courage of this Great War Horse. This is my tribute to this great horse and the Aussie troops that fought in this horrible war.
